Not many musicians are so inextricably linked with a Fender Telecaster as Jerry Donahue, who achieved world fame with his formations “Fotheringay” Fairport Convention ”or the“ Hellecasters ”. In his virtuoso playing, the “king of string benders” uses a wide variety of playing techniques for his unmistakably melodic folk and country rock game.

So it is of course not surprising that Fender has stood by with several signature models over the course of its long career, all with the master’s optional equipment.

This 50th anniversary Telecaster in 3-color sunburst made in Japan in 1996 has a very strong neck profile that starts with a 'V' and merges with a balanced 'C'.

Another but very essential element is the electronics section with a classic tele-pickup on the bridge for the typical “twangy” sounds and a strat-pickup on the neck, which holds a fuller and more bluesy sound in the neck position. Two pickups and a 5-way switch, how does that work together? Very easily:

Position 1: Customized '52 vintage Tele tone

Position 2: Out of phase sound with both pickups engaged

Position 3: Both pickups in parallel for nice rhythm sounds

Position 4: Both pickups in series for a beefy, fat tone

Position 5: neck pickup only for true bluesy strat-sounds

Extremely versatile with high tonal quality, to which, in addition to the resonant woods and the comfortable weight. Visually an absolute beauty with double body binding and 3-layer pickguard, the Tele is overall in really good condition for its age of at least 25 years. Of course it has signs of use from play, scratches, and dings (pictured).
