1989–90 Fender Precision Bass Plus – Natural – Made in USA
Up for sale is a 1989–90 Fender Precision Bass Plus in a beautiful Natural finish, proudly Made in the USA with an E9 + 5-digit serial number. Produced for only around four years, the Precision Bass Plus is a relatively rare model that features a slightly revised body shape with deeper cutaways for improved upper fret access. Its extended horns have also earned it the affectionate nicknames “Boner Bass” and “Longhorn” among Fender enthusiasts.
This bass features a solid one-piece ash body paired with a one-piece maple neck, delivering classic Fender tone with excellent sustain and stability. The versatile P/J pickup configuration, combined with a Series/Parallel switching button, offers a wide range of tones, from traditional Precision punch to brighter Jazz-style articulation. Fender’s TBX (Treble Bass Expander) tone circuit provides an exceptionally useful and flexible tone control, making it easy to dial in the perfect sound.
Hardware is equally impressive, with high-quality Schaller tuning machines and the superb Schaller Elite fine-tuning bridge, offering outstanding tuning stability, precise intonation, and excellent playing feel. It’s a bridge many players feel deserved wider use across Fender’s range.
Considering its age, this bass remains in excellent overall condition, showing only the expected signs of careful use over the years. A fantastic opportunity to own a distinctive and increasingly collectible piece of Fender history.
Includes a hardcase.
